Privacy policy

This page explains what happens to the details you give us on this website, which cookies we use, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and plain.

Who we are

The website at www.khamilodge.com is run by Khami Lodge, a private game reserve and lodge near Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The data controller is [CONFIRM: legal entity and address]. You can reach us at stay@khamilodge.com or on WhatsApp at +263 775 876 661.

When you send an enquiry

The enquiry form asks for your name, email address, country, rough dates, party size and anything you want to tell us. We use these details to answer your enquiry and, if you go ahead, to arrange your stay. Here is where they go:

  • Email to us. Your enquiry is sent to the lodge team by Brevo, the email service we use, and a short acknowledgement is sent to you.
  • Our enquiry log. A copy is written to a private Google Sheet so nothing is lost if an email goes astray.
  • Our contact list. Your name, email and country are stored as a contact in Brevo so that whoever replies can see the history. You are not added to any mailing list unless you tick the box asking for our occasional notes.

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and any stay that follows, and for our own records of who has stayed with us. If you would like them deleted sooner, email us and we will do it.

Our occasional notes

If you ask for a note from Roseburn, we send you a confirmation email first (double opt-in) and only add you to the list once you click the link in it. Every note has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. The list is held in Brevo.

Cookies and measurement

We use Google Tag Manager to run a small number of tools that help us understand how the site is used and whether our advertising works:

  • Google Analytics 4 for visitor statistics such as which pages are read and where visitors come from.
  • Google Ads to measure whether people who arrive from our advertising go on to enquire, and to show our advertising to people who have visited before.
  • Microsoft Clarity for anonymised session recordings and heatmaps that show us how pages are actually used.

If you are visiting from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, these tools stay off until you choose Accept on the banner at the bottom of the page. Choosing Essential only keeps them off. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie link in the footer. Elsewhere, these tools run by default because local law allows it, but you can still block them in your browser.

Cookies that are needed for the site to work, such as the one that remembers your cookie choice and the bot check on the enquiry form (Cloudflare Turnstile), are always on.

After you send an enquiry we may pass your email address to Google, in hashed form, so that Google can match the enquiry to the advertising click that led to it. Google calls this enhanced conversions. It happens only on the thank-you page and only if you have accepted advertising cookies where consent is required.

Where your data is processed

Brevo, Google and Microsoft process data on servers outside Zimbabwe, including in the European Union and the United States, under their own privacy terms and standard contractual safeguards.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can also withdraw consent to cookies or to our notes at any time. Email stay@khamilodge.com and we will deal with it personally, normally within a few days. If you are in the UK or EEA and are not happy with how we have handled your request, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and the date at the top.
